I am Woman

Gender neutral?

No, uh huh, not me,

Cuz I found out

Woman is extraordinary.

Even if ruling the world

Was intended for a he,

Man would sit on a

Throne of ruins without a she.

**

The world may try to

Throw us under the bus,

But the truth of the matter is:

Men, you need us.

Who is the one strengthening you

When you get weak and full of doubt?

The one holding it all down

Every time you screw up and strike out?

For centuries men strove to reduce us

To our cooking, sex, and a dress,

But who does a mighty man run to

When he is broken and distressed?

**

Just so you know

Not waging no war on any man.

This merely a mantra on where I stand.

I vow to defend

What makes me precious and unique.

I’m not neutral in my walk,

Not neutral when I speak.

Will not stand in the middle,

Not impartial, I choose a side.

Man–Woman,

Equal but not the same

To deny this is gender-cide.

All that’s right,

Despite all that’s wrong,

I’ll always stand where I belong.

**

To the ones in the middle

Trying to figure themselves out

I’m pretty sure who I am,

Won’t budge from my spot;

Even when things get heavy

And the fire gets hot,

Through times good or bad

Accepted or not.

**

Gender neutral?

Nope, not a chance.

My position is established

No matter changing laws

Or circumstance.

Took too long to get here

Fought too hard to be free.

No, not happening,

Won’t lose my identity.

Write it down

Cuz this is how it’ll be:

From now to forever more

The world will always see

That

I am woman

Woman is me.
