You didn’t know it was there till you hit it

just reaching for the stars

expecting to grab one

You saw the beyond and said,

Yeah, I want that

I can have that

I can be that

But when you shot for your star

you got struck down

Cuz you didn’t know it was there

till you bumped your head

and came crashing back to the earth

It was then you saw it for the first time

the glass ceiling that let you see

made you believe

then told you,

“No, you can’t go

comfort yourself with a wish

cuz you’ll never get that star.”

It was then you saw and took arms

Target: the ceiling

that glass wall that said

IMPOSSIBLE

And when it fell like rain

you discovered you could fly to the beyond

and suddenly

the stars

were not enough…
